The Philosophy Room aims to dispel the wrong pseudo-reflective prejudices attached to philosophy and literature. Our purpose is to make philosophy the possession of a commoner, not the possession of the privileged.
Our Pilot Project: The Bard Review
Our annual magazine, The Bard Review, is our pilot project. Our team spends months reading, discussing, and thinking about the social, economic, political and historical issues we have faced during the year and then write about them through the lens of literature. We understand madness through Hamlet, we understand communism through Tolstoy, we understand the Partition through the historical perspective of the Russian Revolution, and so forth.
The Philosophy Room is passionately dedicated to bringing Philosophy and Literature back to their correct place on earth. Philosophy and Literature are the backbones of being human, but unfortunately, they have been unduly neglected by society; relegated to the status of privileged, over-the-cloud subjects, possessed and discussed by the elite class.
The Philosophy Room is a small team of dedicated, young expert thinkers who have devoted their lives to thinking about the correct questions that need to be asked in out times. We read, think, discuss, re-think, re-read, discuss again, until we come up with a written expression of the in-depth analysis of our social problems.
As social, practical beings we are engaged with social reality every moment. We do not get time to think about our relation with social reality. The Philosophy Room fills this thinking-gap in our society. We do not replace your thinking-process with ours; we help you enhance your reflective relation with society and yourself, while you are spontaneously engaged with everyday life
“The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.”
― Socrates
The Philosophy Room is a thought-provoking organization, it pushes you to think of the ordinary events in life in light of our past and how it has been recorded. We do not think for you, we think with you, and you with us.
